Laura

laura-photoMy name is Laura Townsend.  After leaving school when I had completed my ‘A' Levels, the University required me to have a year's work experience before I could undertake a social work degree.  I then began a career in social care which I fell in love with and I haven't looked back.  I have worked for the same company for the last four years and I have completed my NVQ level two and I am currently working on my NVQ in Health and Social Care level three.  It was a life changing experience and through the Care Ambassadors

I can share my experiences with other people and hopefully inspire them to do the same.  This is because I get such a great sense of fulfilment and achievement knowing that I support the men within their home and make a difference by improving the quality of their lives.

Helen

helenI’m Helen Chapman and I work as a Care Assistant at West View, Bere Alston.  I have been working in care work for nearly 3 years.  It’s the only job I’ve ever wanted to do and I really enjoy caring for other people.  I have completed my NVQ2 and I have just started my NVQ3.  I would like to become a Team Leader at Moor View after completing my NVQ3. Once I have had experience in a senior position I would love to apply for a career in Nursing.

I want to be a Care Ambassador to show other younger people how I enjoy my job and give them information so they may consider this as a future profession.

Kit

I'm Kit Rabjohns and I work as a Team Leader in a Residential home for young adults with Autism
for Peninsula Autism Services and Support (PASS).

kitI first started my Social Care career at school.  I started off by doing Health and Social Care Intermediate and then Advanced award.  I have worked in a Residential Home for the Elderly which I did for a year and now I work for PASS.  I will have been working with PASS for four years in August.  I have been promoted to Senior and now Team Leader and I have gained qualifications and training and skills which will always be useful.  I have the opportunity to go further with my company and continue to gain knowledge and skills that I could always take to another career path in Social Care.  I am the proud Mum to Chloe and will be resuming my post with PASS in the near future. I am glad I have a chance to make a difference in so many people's lives.

Kally

kellyHi, I'm Kally Laing and I work as a Care Assistant at West View Residential Home in Bere Alston.  I care for the elderly and some have dementia.  Ever since I have been young girl I have always wanted to be in the Care industry as a nurse.  When I was at school I did my work experience at a care home for adults with learning disabilities and loved every minute of it.  I knew then that I wanted to stay in this career.  I left school and went to West View as a carer.  I'm taking my NVQ2 and would like to work towards my NVQ3 and the role of Team Leader.  I am hoping to go and train as a general nurse then become a specialist in paediatrics or midwifery.

Becoming a Care Ambassador is very important because I want to promote how much I enjoy and how rewarding my work is.  I hope to tell people that Care is a great job to work in!
