Recruitment and retention of staff continues to be an issue for the social care sector, despite the fact that the sector is one of the few sectors with a growth in the number of social care jobs. Care AmbassadorCase Study...
Dale attended a Care Ambassador Jobsfair & Information Day in Dorchester in July 2010 and within an hour was having an interview in the offices of Essential Nursing & Care Services. A week later she was on the company training course and within days of completing this started working for them.
A real success story, 20 year old Dale had completed one year of a university nursing degree and decided to take a year out to gain more first hand experience of nursing and social care. The Jobsfair, where Dale was introduced to Essential Nursing & Care, is one of many organised by Partners in Care, promoting care as a valuable and rewarding career option. Each Jobsfair is supported by social care employers from across Bournemouth Dorset & Poole with numerous vacancies.
Dale has now been working with Essential Nursing for six months, supporting older people in residential homes and in their own homes. “I’m really enjoying working for Essential. The variety and flexibility are great.”
Care Ambassadors use their own experiences and knowledge together with a number of different resources to engage with groups in the community. They are involved in programmes of working with schools, colleges and Apprenticeship partnerships, and a wide range of community groups and organisations such as Jobcentre Plus and the Prince’s Trust.
