Volunteering Information

There are many volunteering opportunities available for people of all ages across the West of England irrespective of whether you are looking for some experience in a specific sector, a refresher back into work or to give some valuable time to an organisation. 

VOSCUR is a Council for Voluntary Service.  They are an infrastructure organisation and a development agency for the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector in Bristol.

Horfield Lodge - MHA

A brand new care home for the elderly run by MHA is due to open soon on Kellaway Avenue, Horfield, Bristol.

This will provide a fantastic volunteering opportunity for students wishing to gain invaluable experience in nursing and dementia care as well as assistance in the activities programme organised by the full time social care facilitator.
Full support and training will be given to those who wish to offer some of their time for this very worthwhile cause.

St Monica Trust

At the St Monica Trust our volunteers do not replace paid staff, but rather bring new skills and experiences that enhance the well–being of residents living in our retirement villages.

We currently have volunteers carrying out the following tasks across our sites in Westbury-on-Trym, Bedminster and Sandford:

  • Escort duties on mini bus outings
  • Accompanying residents on hospital appointments
  • Helping with group activities and worship times
  • Helping residents in their rooms with daily tasks such letter writing
  • Visiting isolated residents for conversation and companionship
  • Assisting at our weekly Tuesday shop & coffee morning (Cote Lane site only)
  • Enabling residents to enjoy growing and gardening
